Light reflecting on a glassy doors, a label on the pavement that catches the artist's attention could become an inspiration for next painting. Mass media provides another source of visual information that often stays in our minds and may alter our perceptions. The news we read and hear about are only important to us for a moment. Reading about the earthquake that struck Japan may evoke a range of emotions at first, but soon we forget about it and get on with our daily lives. However, lives are changed for people directly involved in those events. Kasia likes to “borrow” imagery from newspapers because she believes that through the act of making a painting out of mechanically produced photograph she brings the importance of that event into the spectator’s closer attention.
